Global Growth of B Corps: Awareness and Impact Report 2023
Since 2022, the number of Certified B Corporations has accelerated exponentially, doubling from 4,000 to 8,500+ globally. B Corp say they are proud to see the B Corp movement now spans across 98 countries, 160+ industries, and employs over 780,000 people.
As the number of B Corps continues to grow across all industries worldwide, more and more people are coming to recognise the ‘B’ logo and what it stands for.
So, just how widespread is awareness of B Corp Certification?
To find out, they conducted a comprehensive survey on brand awareness and perception in our region for the first time in late 2023.
Digging into the global shifts towards more conscious consumption and responsible business practices, the survey results suggest that B Corp are making important progress towards creating a truly inclusive, equitable and regenerative global economy.
Some key findings:
- 85% (Aus) and 79% (NZ) of respondents believe businesses should consider the welfare of people and the planet in their decisions
- The B Corp logo is becoming increasingly recognisable in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand, and across the world
- Awareness of B Corp Certification averages 18% in Australia and 15% in Aotearoa New Zealand, over all age groups
- Awareness of the ‘B’ is highest amongst younger people (25-34 year olds) at 30%
- Almost 55% of those surveyed agreed that certifications like B Corp influence decisions when it comes to purchasing and employment
- 1 in 7 (Aus) are actively seeking B Corp Certification when choosing to buy
