Member Feature – The Reconnect Project
We are thrilled to introduce The Reconnect Project - a registered charity and social enterprise.
They are making positive social impacts and change in a range of areas by closing Australis's digital divide. They do this by providing refurbished tech devices to people in need to help them (re)connect to their family, friends and support services.
They train and develop workers with learning difficulties to assist in the repairs of laptops, mobiles and tablets which have been donated by individuals and organisations.
Once these items are refurbished, they distribute these items to case workers to pass them on to women fleeing domestic violence, homelessness agencies, refugee and asylum seeker services and youth outreach programs.
In the 2023/24 financial year, they donated over 800 items with a value of more than $175,000, as well as eliminating these items from landfill!
You can learn more about them here and support them in a number of ways:
- Learn more or make a donation to support their great work
- Donate your unwanted tech in person or by mail
- Get those pesky household electrical and tech items (such as toasters, phones, tablets, laptops and more) that are no longer working fixed:
- Donate your skills to help fix donated tech or train and develop others to do this.
Visit their membership page in the Greatest Good ecosystem to find out how.
