Social enterprise is growing!
We have some very exciting statistics for you!
Social Traders conducted a study in 2021, following on from their 2016 research about Australian social enterprises.
The study found that the social enterprise sector now includes a variety of mature and diverse organisations, with a continuing stream of organisations entering the field (a third of businesses sampled were five years old or less).
With the backing of philanthropists, impact investors, and state governments, Social Traders estimates there are now over 20,000 social enterprises in Australia, generating up to 3 per cent of GDP and employing 300,000 Australians.
